Parylene based artificial smart lenses fabricated using a novel solid-on-liquid deposition process






Welcome to the PARYLENS Website!
PARYLENS was an FP7-funded research project involving 12 partners all across Europe. The Project ran from October 2010 until September 2013.

The main goal of PARYLENS project was to develop the next generation optical devices, based on an innovative and reliable concept inspired by natural optical systems such as the human’s and the fly’s eyes.

The project worked on:
The fabrication of those devices relied on recent advances in nanotechnology combined with the patented SOLID process, which offers the possibility to grow a stable solid layer directly onto a liquid such that the solid uniformly replicates and encapsulates the liquid template. When using the Parylene polymer as solid layer, the resulting interface is perfectly smooth and the liquid template remains unaffected.
